Man stabbed after traffic accident in Turlock, suspect arrested

A man was stabbed and killed following a road rage incident in Turlock on Friday evening, according to police. The Turlock Police Department said officers responded to reports of a stabbing in the 2400 block of West Monte Vista Avenue around 10:30 p.m. According to police, when officers arrived they found a man on the ground who had been stabbed. Officers attempted life-saving measures, but the man, 49-year-old Enrique Gomez, was pronounced dead at the scene. During an investigation, Turlock police learned that the stabbing occurred after a verbal altercation related to a traffic incident at an apartment complex nearby the scene. A physical altercation ensued, which led to the stabbing. Turlock Police Department investigators identified the suspect's vehicle and worked with Modesto Police to locate the suspect. Ahmad Abweny, a 28-year-old Modesto resident, was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on a murder charge, police said.
