Image shows UFO shot down by a US fighter jet in Canadian airspace a few days after the incident with a Chinese spy plane

An image of a UFO shot down by a U.S. warplane over Canada last year was released on Wednesday.

The blurry photo of the unknown cylindrical object, which appears to be a photocopy of an email printout, was taken as it hovered in the air in February 2023, days before it passed over Canada's Yukon Territory, according to CTVNews Bordering Alaska, was shot down.

The news agency obtained the image through a request for information from the Canadian Department of Defense.

The object initially drifted from Alaska into Canadian airspace. The North American Aerospace Defense Command initially spotted the “high altitude air object” flying at an altitude of about 40,000 feet over Alaska and used jets to monitor it.

A newly released image shows the UFO shot down by a US fighter jet over Canada in 2023.

It was shot down on February 11, 2023, and was one of three aerial objects shot down this month following the downing of a Chinese surveillance balloon days earlier.

All three objects were smaller than the Chinese spy balloon that floated across the United States from Alaska before being shot down off the coast of South Carolina on February 4, 2023.

“Yesterday afternoon I also spoke with President Biden and together we confirmed that we will continue to do everything necessary to protect the sovereignty of our shared North American airspace, but also do everything necessary to ensure the safety of our citizens,” said the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at the time.

A US F-22 Raptor shot down the UFO in Canadian airspace.

A U.S. F-22 Raptor fired an AIM-9X missile to shoot down the object. It was believed to be a “small metal balloon with a payload attached.”

Biden later said the three objects were not related to the Chinese spy boat incident.

The image of the UFO was initially declassified and released for public release in Canada before the acting deputy minister of public affairs questioned whether the public should be allowed to see it, the news agency said.

“If the image were to be published, it would be through the [Canadian armed forces] Social media accounts,” the official wrote in an internal email. “Given the current public environment and statements about the safety of the object, publishing the image may lead to more questions/confusion, regardless of the text accompanying the post.”
