Wet outfield stands play in 2nd India-Bangladesh Test

KANPUR, India (AP) — The wait for the second India-Bangladesh Test to restart continued Sunday as the morning session on the third day was lost due to a wet outfield.

Although there has been no rain since Saturday's morning showers, the waterlogged outfield continued to pose a safety risk for the players. The bowling areas on both sides of the pitch, as well as the barriers and certain near-field and boundary-field positions, appeared unattractive to umpires Chris Brown (New Zealand) and Richard Kettleborough (England) cause concern.

Ground staff at Green Park Stadium worked during the morning session to prepare the pitch for the game later on Sunday.

Bangladesh had a record of 107-3 in their first innings, bowling all 35 overs on a rainy first day. Rain and a wet outfield had resulted in the second day being abandoned without bowling.

India won the first Test in Chennai by 280 runs and led the two-match series.
