Minnesota Twins fan arrested and banned from Target Field for anti-Pohlad sign

Just when you think there's nothing else the Minnesota Twins can do to further tarnish the organization's reputation, another game was played at Target Field on Friday night. They lost what has become the norm lately. But this time, they were mathematically eliminated from postseason contention.

The fans are rightly angry. Some point the finger at Rocco Baldelli, others want Derek Falvey and Thad Levine out. But the real ones know. The real problem for the Minnesota Twins lies at the ownership level. The Pohlad family took $30 million off the payroll right after the Twins posted their longest postseason run in 20 years.

So instead of just putting up “Fire Rocco” signs at Target Field, which we've seen sporadically over the last few days, one brave soul made an anti-Pohlad sign on Friday that read, “Finally”: “Defund the PO…lahds” on one side and “Stinginess pinch Pohlads = mediocrity” on the other side – and held it proudly above his head to protest the twins’ terrible ownership.

But unlike the anti-Baldelli signs, which were not forcibly removed and faced no consequences, Michael Bailey (@bailbino on Twitter) was tracked down, arrested and banned from his favorite team's home stadium for the entire next season. Watch the video below the signs. It's crazy.

What were the twins/Pohlads thinking?

Even for the Pohlads, this is incredibly stupid. Are you really so soft that you can't stand it when a fan brings a sign to the game that mocks you? There's a 100 percent chance the Pohalds saw this from their owner's suite, which was filled with expensive food that shouldn't be eaten, and sent stadium security to “teach him a lesson.”

This is not acceptable behavior, even if the sign is not posted. The fact that it is makes this video all the more difficult to watch. Michael wasn't the type to cut his baseball team's knees out. And they did it one summer after the same team had more wins and more playoff revenue than at any point in the previous two decades. These were the Pohlads. They caused him to make this sign. Rumor has it that more cuts are on the way.

It was Joe and his uptight family members who took the Minnesota Twins' starting rotation from its greatest strength to its most obvious weakness. They let Sonny Gray leave in free agency and then refused to replace him. So the sign. If these pay cuts never happen, the Twins will find a path to the playoffs.

If that were the case, Target Field would be full of adoring fans who have forgotten what a “Pohlad Pocket Protector” is. Instead, the place is empty and fans bring signs saying they are being wrongfully arrested.

It should be the Pohlads who are banned from Target Field and arrested. The real crime is ruining October for millions of Minnesota Twins fans.
