Restoration Recovery Outreach had to close four locations due to safety concerns

CALHOUN COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC) – Restoration Recovery Outreach and Company has been ordered to close four locations in east Alabama due to serious safety risks.

Alabama Fire Marshal Scott Pilgreen ordered the locations closed Friday, citing numerous fire and safety violations as the reason for the closures.

According to the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office, citizens have filed numerous complaints over the last year about the program and its living conditions.

Marshal Pilgreen says while they support the need for real, substantive treatment for people dealing with substance abuse, as a community, the safety of these people is even more important.

Restoration Recovery had 18 registered sex offenders living at four locations in East Alabama and participating in its program.

In response to the closures, Sheriff Mathew Wade deployed deputies to the locations to ensure all offenders present were in compliance with the Sex Offender Registration Notification Act (SORNA).

Police issued arrest warrants for several offenders who were found to be non-compliant. According to police, additional arrest warrants may be obtained.
