More Thank Pink Walk is about doing more to fight breast cancer – Orange County Register

Experts say more deaths from breast cancer can be prevented, and money raised at Sunday's Susan G. Komen More Thank Pink Walk in Newport Beach will help fund research, organizers said.

The money raised is also used by the organization to help patients receive the services they need and afford their treatments.

“Supporting people in our community suffering from breast cancer is essential to our mission, but we cannot do it alone,” said Shannon Abeyta, executive director of Susan G. Komen Orange County, in a statement. “This year’s walk is not just an event; It is a crucial moment to secure vital resources that enable equitable care for all.”

During the “More than Pink Walk,” participants walked through the Fashion Island area but also visited a “We Remember” tent to learn about breast cancer prevention and research and honor survivors, those undergoing treatment and those living with cancer .
