“Shazam” star Zachary Levi supports Donald Trump while hosting the rally

Shazam Star Zachary Levi is campaigning for support for Donald Trump, whom he officially endorsed in the 2024 presidential campaign.

During a Trump rally in Michigan on Saturday, Levi made a surprise appearance to moderate a conversation between Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard. Before welcoming her to the stage, Levi mentioned his DC superhero's name while explaining his decision to support the twice-impeached former president in his campaign against Vice President Kamala Harris.

“I'm not going to take too much time, but I just wanted to give you a little context as to why Shazam is sitting here talking to you about these different things,” Levi began. “I grew up in a Christian conservative family, that was largely the path we were on. “My parents were Kennedy Democrats who turned into Reagan Republicans, and they taught me to have a healthy level of distrust of government, a healthy level of distrust of an industry run amok.”

Levi, who has been vocal in his support for RFK Jr. in recent months, continued: “For a long time I was like, 'Man, I really want to find a politician that represents all the things that I want and.” “I want to see a presidential candidate,” he continued. “And this year I found Bobby Kennedy and I was like, ‘Man, this guy is it. He's the crazy one.'”

Levi explained that “in a perfect world” he would have the chance to cast his vote for RFK. Instead, he is content to support Trump.

“We don’t live in a perfect world,” Levi said. “In fact, we live in a very broken situation. We live in a country that has been hijacked by many people who want to tear this place off the cliff. And we want to stop that, right?”

Kennedy, who announced during his campaign that a parasitic worm had eaten part of his brain and then died there, paused his campaign last month and endorsed Trump and his running mate, JD Vance.

“We are here to make sure we take this country back, we will make it great again, we will make it healthy again,” Levi said during the rally. “I believe that of the two options we have – and we only have two – President Trump is the man who can get us there. And he will get us there because he will have the backing and the support and the wisdom and the knowledge and the fight that is there in Robert Kennedy Jr. and former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard.”

In recent years, Levi has made headlines for expressing controversial opinions, including his criticism of the SAG-AFTRA strike, which he later walked back. Before that, two months before the release of Shazam! Rage of the godsLevi shocked fans with his response to a tweet asking whether Covid-19 vaccine maker Pfizer posed “a real danger to the world.”

Levi replied, “Hardcore agrees.”

The tweet sparked such controversy that it eventually made its way to DC Films co-chairmen James Gunn and Peter Safran, who were asked to comment on the tweet during a press event at the Warner Bros. lot in January 2023 To voice Levi's future in the DECU.

“Quite simply, actors and filmmakers I work with say things I agree with and things I disagree with,” Gunn said. “And that’s what’s going to happen. I can’t keep changing my plans just because an actor says something I don’t agree with.”
