Aubrey Plaza jokes that Patti LuPone “almost killed her” when she was sick

Agatha all the time Actress Aubrey Plaza briefly lived with her Marvel co-star Patti LuPone – and lived to tell the tale.

In a hilarious retelling of a recent episode of Late Night with Seth MeyersPlaza recounted her time with the multiple Tony Award winner, with whom she became “fast friends” and who encouraged her to go to the theater (something she hadn't done before) when the two were roommates.

And around that time, she “almost killed” her with a dose of Benadryl.

While the couple lived together for months, Plaza said she became “really sick,” prompting LuPone to suggest she see her “special nurse” named Joe. Although LuPone was attending a gala that evening (which Meyers joked was actually a surrogate alibi), the nurse arrived around 10:30 p.m. and hooked her up to an IV that gave her nutrients.

When Joe asked if Plaza also wanted a dose of what LuPone uses to help her sleep, he replied Megalopolis The actress agreed, to which the nurse hesitantly agreed. When the shot was administered, Plaza realized it was Benadryl – also a powerful drug.

“For me it was like a horse tranquilizer. And she came in when I was halfway through the sedative and couldn't speak,” she remembers, mumbling and moving her mouth to demonstrate. Adding to the chaotic scene was a diamond-studded LuPone, who rushed to prepare Plaza a treat of peanut butter English muffins, which she then shoveled into her mouth.

After she came down and the nurse left, Plaza asked LuPone why the scenario happened. “And she said, 'That's happening because you're on stage now and you have to toughen up.' And that’s why it’s happening,” she said, mimicking LuPone’s signature great voice. “And in that moment I understood everything about Hollywood.”

At the beginning of the video, Plaza also shared that LuPone helped her get dressed and made her soup. She said: “Every morning I would come out and there would be another piece of raw meat thawing on the counter… And then one time I came out and she was cutting up a turkey [not during Thanksgiving and in her underwear] and she said, “Doll, I have to go out of town for a few gigs, but I'm going to carve this turkey and put it in the fridge and I want you to make sandwiches out of it every day.” Sandwiches, out of this turkey. And I thought, 'Whatever you want.'”
