Star Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice could face a long spell on the sidelines after leaving Kansas City's win over the Los Angeles Chargers with a knee injury.

The manner in which Rice sustained the injury was bizarre when he collided with star quarterback Patrick Mahomes and both players attempted to make a tackle on a Chargers defender after Mahomes intercepted him.

Mahomes went to the ground to tackle the Chargers' ball carrier, but accidentally caught Rice's knee in an ugly collision.

Rice's right knee appeared to be hyperextended and he had to be helped onto a cart and wheeled off the field.

In a brutal update, ESPN insider Adam Schefter reported that Rice likely suffered an ACL injury.

That's difficult news for the Chiefs, considering that entering Week 4, Rice led the league in catches (24) and was second in receiving yards (288).

Coach Andy Reid was asked about the injury by CBS reporter Tracy Wolfson after the game and responded “not good.”

Later in the game, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce surpassed Kansas City legend Tony Gonzalez for the most receptions in franchise history (917 and counting).

Kelce has been quiet so far this season, but he enjoyed his best game of the season against the Chargers.

DENVER STAR was transported away in scary scenes as the jets collapsed

There were scary scenes during the Denver Broncos' surprise win over the New York Jets as a player was carted away on a stretcher.

Denver running back Tyler Badie was tackled by Jets linebacker Quincy Williams on the final play of the first quarter, with Williams' helmet hitting Badie in the lower back.

Badie walked to the sideline without any problem, but when he got there he was placed on his back and also attended to by medical staff for several minutes before being taken off the field.

The Jets forced a turnover when Badie fumbled the ball, but it was one of the rare highlights of the day for the Jets, who failed to cross the end zone during the surprising 10-9 loss.

For Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers, it was the first time in his long career that he failed to throw a touchdown pass in a loss.

Rodgers, who missed all of last season with a knee injury, was seen favoring the same leg late in the fourth quarter, but he was able to finish the game.

The star quarterback blamed the offense and himself for the embarrassing defeat.

“If your defense holds them to 10, you have to win the game 100%. That’s up to the offense, it’s down to me. Not good enough,” he said in the post-match press conference.

The Broncos' win puts them at 2-2 and in the thick of the AFC West race, while the Jets drop to 2-2.

The Broncos' rookie quarterback Bo Nix had a staggering -8 passing yards well into the second quarter before finishing the game with just 60.

However, he did throw his first NFL touchdown pass, with wide receiver Courtland Sutton being the beneficiary. That would be the only touchdown of the game.

SURPRISE PACKAGES always shock

Two teams that most believed wouldn't be a threat this season were the Minnesota Vikings and the Washington Commanders.

The Vikings lost strong QB Kirk Cousins in the offseason and there was a question mark on offense, however, bachelor QB Sam Darnold is playing like an MVP candidate and Minnesota's defense is one of the best in the league.

The Vikings moved to 4-0 with a win over the Green Bay Packers on Monday morning (AEST), continuing their unexpectedly hot start.

Darnold was great again, as was the game's best receiver, Justin Jefferson, who made an insane one-handed touchdown grab.

If Minnesota's 4-0 record is its most shocking so far this season, Washington's early record of 3-1 isn't far behind.

The Commanders, who had the league's second-worst record last season and are undergoing a rebuild with a new head coach and quarterback at the helm, defeated the Arizona Cardinals 42-14.

The quarterback in question, Jayden Daniels, the second overall pick in the 2024 draft, was a revelation for Washington.

Daniels threw the ball extremely efficiently and proved to be extremely skilled as a runner for opposing defenses.

The rookie is already breaking records.

His passing accuracy of 82.1% is the highest ever in NFL history through four games.

In fact, he has rushed for nearly 600 yards and five touchdowns in the last two weeks.

BRADY'S EPIC BURN ON BUCS QB – New York Post

Tom Brady reunited with his former team on a football field – although he hasn't returned to playing… at least not yet.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion also watched his Tampa Bay Buccaneers successor, Baker Mayfield, push the Philadelphia Eagles to take a 24-7 halftime lead.

The Buccaneers won 33-16 as Mayfield threw for 347 yards and two touchdowns.

Earlier this week, Mayfield discussed the difference between his and Brady's quarterbacking styles.

Mayfield said the Bucs told him: “They wanted me to come in, be myself and bring the joy of football back to the guys who weren't having as much fun.”

Brady responded in kind on air when the quote was presented on the Fox broadcast.

“I found it stressful not having Super Bowl rings,” Brady said in response to Mayfield’s comment in the locker room. “There was a champion attitude that I went to work with every day. This wasn't a daycare center. If I wanted to have fun, I would take my kids to Disneyland.”

Encouraged to keep going by play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt, Brady added more information, explaining his process and why “fun” wasn't necessarily valuable to him – at least not as a substitute for winning.

“There's a way to approach this game,” Brady said, “and that's with the right attitude and trying to push each other out of our comfort zones, and great teammates do that.” You come in, I've got teammates like (Rob) Gronkowski, I have someone like (Mike) Evans, the expectations are high for us, we have to make sure we go out and deliver.”

Burkhardt replied: “The competitive juices are still flowing.”

Brady added: “They’re still in there. No excuse.”

Earlier this week, regarding the difference between his tenure with Tampa and Brady's between 2020 and 2022, Mayfield said that “the building was a little different with Tom there.”

Mayfield continued: “Obviously Tom is different in terms of play. He was talking to everyone, the atmosphere was tense, so I think everyone was pretty stressed.”

To conclude the conversation, Brady would of course be holding up his Super Bowl ring here, as he helped lead the Bucs to a Super Bowl ring in his three seasons, and it's only the second in franchise history.
