A case has been filed against former deputy chief minister Alla Nani following an elevator incident in Eluru in Andhra

VIJAYAWADA: Eluru city police on Sunday filed a case against former deputy chief minister Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas alias Nani and his followers for allegedly threatening and cheating a station volunteer.

According to police, YSRC chairman Dirishala Varaprasad and others conducted an election campaign at Lakshmi Krishna Residence in Shanti Nagar in May. They entered the elevator to descend from the fourth floor, which quickly descended. The residents, including station attendant Nagamani, fell on each other. Nagamani suffered serious injuries in the incident.

Nani and his supporters feared that the incident would create a controversy as Secretariat volunteers and staff were taking part in the election campaign and kept it secret. He promised to cover Nagamani's medical expenses, as well as provide accident insurance and support her family financially.

“Despite repeated appeals, Nani failed to keep his promise and approached the court. Based on the court directions, a case has been registered against Nani and three others under relevant sections of the IPC,” police said.
