Chaos in Valhalla – Scottie Scheffler arrested by the police after a traffic accident

World number one Scottie Scheffler was arrested by police for reportedly trying to avoid a traffic jam caused by a fatal accident near Valhalla.

The start of play in the second round of the US PGA Championship was delayed following an accident in which a pedestrian died after being struck by a shuttle bus, according to the Louisville Metro Police Department.

Scheffler was trying to get to the track to prepare for his lap when he was arrested.

ESPN reporter Jeff Darlington, who witnessed the incident, said on television: “Traffic was backed up and Scottie Scheffler attempted to enter Valhalla Golf Club through a median strip, at which point a police officer ordered him to stop.”

“Scheffler attempted to continue driving, the officer then clung to the side of Scheffler’s car.

“Scheffler stopped the vehicle as he turned into the entrance to Valhalla Golf Club, approximately 10 to 20 meters from where the officer first told him to stop.

“At this point, the officer instructed Scheffler to get out of the car.

“He rolled down the window and the police officer grabbed his arm and started pulling. He reached in, opened the car door, pulled Scheffler out, pushed him against the car and immediately handcuffed him.”

LMPD previously released a statement on the traffic accident.

“At approximately 5:00 a.m. this morning, LMPD responded to a call regarding a vehicle collision between a pedestrian and a bus,” the statement said.

“Our preliminary investigation revealed that an adult male pedestrian was crossing Shelbyville Road from south to north when he was struck by a shuttle bus traveling in the mandatory center lane for eastbound buses.

“As a result, the pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The LMPD traffic unit is investigating.”
