Quincy man arrested for alleged robbery


QUINCY — A Quincy man was arrested on suspicion of first-degree robbery after he allegedly held up a gas station early Friday morning.

Richard Balderas Mondragon, 29, was arrested without incident shortly after the alleged robbery, according to a release from Quincy police. The robbery occurred around 7:15 a.m

An employee at the Chevron Convenience Store, 603 Central Ave. S., in Quincy, told law enforcement that a heavy-set Hispanic man came into the store, displayed a knife and demanded money from the cash register, the release said. The clerk gave the man an undisclosed amount of money; The man then ran south on Central Avenue, away from the store.

“Officers responded to the scene and were able to locate and take the suspect into custody,” the news release said.
