Ysgol Dyffryn Aman: Girl charged with attempted murder at school said 'I'm going to kill you,' court tells | British News

A young girl charged with attempted murder at a Carmarthenshire school told one of her teachers: “I will kill you,” a court has heard.

The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared in court on Monday wearing a black vest and tie.

She is on trial charged with three counts of attempted murder of two teachers and a student at Ysgol Dyffryn Aman in Ammanford on April 24.

Opening the prosecution's case, William Hughes KC said they believed the stab wounds were “inflicted premeditatedly and with intent to kill”.

Mr Hughes told the jury of eight men and four women that it was up to them to decide whether the defendant had an intent to kill.

She denies three charges of attempted murder of teachers Fiona Elias and Liz Hopkin and a student at the school.

Swansea Crown Court heard Ms Hopkin was the “most seriously injured” of the three and “suffered a total of four stab wounds”.

She was taken to the University Hospital by rescue helicopter Wales In Cardiff.

Ms. Elias and the student were also taken to the hospital where their wounds were treated.

Mr Hughes told the jury the item with the blade was “a fishing multi-tool belonging to her father”.

He said the defendant's father “did not back down”. [her] Permission to take the multi-tool” and that she had left the house that morning before he had a chance to check her bag.

The jury was shown a map of the school site and a compilation of CCTV footage of the alleged incident.

The court heard the defendant told Ms Elias: “I’m going to bloody kill you.”

Mr Hughes said the defendant could be heard on the police bodycam footage saying: “I'm pretty sure this will be on the news so more eyes will be on me. This is one way to be a celebrity.”

The process continues.
