Caribou man dies in motorcycle accident in Fort Fairfield

A Caribou man died in a motorcycle accident in Fort Fairfield Sunday afternoon.

Tony Disy, 69, may have suffered a medical event before going off Presque Isle Road, Fort Fairfield Police Chief Matthew Cummings said.

The police were informed about the accident at around 4:45 p.m. on Sunday. Emergency responders transported Disy to Northern Light AR Gould Hospital, where he died from his injuries, Cummings said.

Disy was alone and traveling eastbound on his 2007 Honda motorcycle when he apparently veered off the road and landed on the paved shoulder. He was not wearing a helmet, police said.

The motorcycle was slightly damaged.

After investigating the scene of the accident and speaking to witnesses, police believe that a medical event may have caused the accident.

“The Fort Fairfield Police Department would like to extend its condolences to the Disy family during this very difficult time,” Cummings said.

Fort Fairfield police are investigating, he said.
