One of the officers involved in the accident had to be removed from the patrol car by the fire department.

The Durango's two occupants were pronounced dead at the scene, while the two officers were taken to the hospital. One of those officers is in critical condition.

Warren Police Lt. John Gajewski said it was not a police pursuit. However, on Monday around 7:30 a.m. there was a police pursuit at a gas station in Groesbeck and Schoenherr after an attempted theft of an ATM with a black SUV. Police believe the case was a series of ATM thefts in three countries.

Families are at the scene of the accident near Schoenherr and Prospect.

Police are still working to determine what led to the crash.
