According to the Atmore Police Department, a Flomaton man was arrested on Sept. 27 for drug possession and attempting to evade charges.

Leverette

Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a news release that 26-year-old Cody Leverette was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and attempting to elude a police officer.

McMann said around 3 p.m. on the day of the arrest, an APD officer conducted a traffic stop on South Main Street for a vehicle driving with a broken windshield. The officer then contacted Leverette, the driver.

“During the officer’s interaction with Leverette, the officer noticed Leverette acting suspiciously and requested consent to search Leverette’s clothing,” McMann said. “The officer removed several bags of synthetic marijuana (spice) weighing a total of nearly 6 grams. As the officer pulled the narcotics from Leverett's clothing, Leverette fled on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, he was taken into custody. During a search of Leverette’s vehicle, the officer discovered several items used to ingest narcotics.”

Leverette was then taken to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
