“Nothing he did was believable,” says Darby Allin, the wrestler who benefited most from the backstage incident at AEW All In 2023

Back in 2023 after his match at AEW All In, CM Punk was involved in a backstage altercation with “Jungle Boy.” Jack Perry. After this altercation, both Perry and Punk were banned from the promotion for an extended period of time.
While Jack Perry returned with a new gimmick called “Scapegoat”, Punk left the company and found his way back into the WWE. While wrestlers feel the entire altercation was completely unnecessary, Darby Allinone of the company's pillars, believes Perry benefited the most from the dispute.

Darby Allin talks Jack Perry and the backstage altercation at AEW All In 2023

In an interview with the New York Post, Darby Allin spoke about the incident that happened behind the scenes at All In 2023. He said: “If anyone has benefited from the incident that happened at All In last year, it's Jack Perry, because I feel like he's now what he always needed to be. Honestly, it sounds crazy, but it's great. Because when he was Jungle Boy, I felt like it was just too cheesy and had a shelf life, if that makes sense. Like there was a glass ceiling with Jungle Boy, and then when he first became a villain, Hollywood Jack, or wherever the hell he was, it just wasn't believable. Nothing he did was believable. It felt like a terrible made-for-TV Lifetime movie character.”

Since his return to the promotion, he has played a wonderful heel character and has been involved in some memorable feuds, both solo and as part of the Elite alongside Okada and the Young Bucks.
He has continued to evolve as a character and has the potential to establish himself as one of the top heels not only in the promotion but also in the industry.
He's had some amazing matches, but it's worth noting that his trajectory took a sharp upward turn after this incident. He has a long future ahead of him, so it will be interesting to see what feuds he gets into in the coming days.
