2 were arrested for drunk driving during a recent search patrol in Springfield

During a five-hour patrol on Friday evening, September 20, Springfield police arrested two impaired drivers. Officers used marked patrol vehicles to enforce what the department called “dangerous traffic violations that often involve drunk driving.”

During the patrol, 24 vehicles were stopped and 20 citations were issued in addition to the two drivers arrested for drunk driving.

The SPD reminds drivers that impaired driving can result in jail time, loss of driving privileges, a conviction for using ignition interlock devices and higher insurance premiums. Further consequences include financial losses due to legal fees, court costs, loss of work and the possible loss of a job. Always plan to come home when you want a drink.

The saturation patrols are funded by a grant from the Missouri Department of Transportation Traffic and Highway Safety Division.
