We began our research with a reverse image search on Google and the results led us to a report by Egyptian broadcaster Cairo 24 published on March 19, 2021. According to the report, the image shows an iPhone explosion that caused serious injuries, including a fractured arm to a child. The incident occurred in Maadi, Egypt.

The report further states that a child named Hamza from Al Maadi, Egypt, suffered a broken arm while trying to escape a fire that broke out after an iPhone exploded while charging. After the incident, the father filed a police report and accused the iPhone manufacturer of negligence. The phone was less than a month old.

Moving forward, we found an article on an Arabic website called nabd.com published on March 20, 2021 with the same details. A child is said to have been injured by the iPhone explosion in Maadi, Cairo.

Fact Crescendo deemed the claim, along with the viral image, misleading. This image of an exploded iPhone is from the 2021 incident in a suburb of Cairo, Egypt. Not from Lebanon.
