“Unsafe, unprofessional,” NORAD shares a video of a close encounter with Russian military aircraft

(KKTV) – On Monday, the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) shared a video of a Russian military aircraft in the Alaska Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) from earlier this month showing close combat.

The incident was caught on camera on September 23rd.

“The Russian aircraft remained in international airspace and did not enter sovereign American or Canadian airspace. “This Russian activity in the Alaska ADIZ is a regular occurrence and is not considered a threat,” NORAD said in a press release. “An ADIZ begins where sovereign airspace ends and is a defined section of international airspace that requires the immediate identification of all aircraft in the interest of national security.”

NORAD posted a caption about the incident caught on camera on social media, which you can view at the top of this article.

“The behavior of a Russian Su-35 was unsafe, unprofessional and put everyone at risk – not what you would see in a professional air force,” said a statement from General Gregory Guillot.
