Family mourns man stabbed in violent road rage incident in Turlock

A Modesto man is behind bars and a family is mourning the loss of their loved one after a fatal traffic accident in Turlock last week. Turlock police said officers responded to reports of a stabbing around 10:30 p.m. Friday in the 2400 block of West Monte Vista Avenue. After an investigation, Turlock police learned that the stabbing occurred after a verbal altercation related to a traffic accident at an apartment complex near the crime scene. A physical altercation ensued, which led to the stabbing. Officials said 49-year-old Enrique Gomez was pronounced dead at the scene. His family said no one could have imagined that a quick trip to the gas station would end in Gomez's death. Thelma Losano was one of Enrique's older sisters. “This man intentionally followed him, he stalked him and taunted him to this point, blocked him and took his life, and for that I really want justice,” Losano said. She described Enrique as a family man. “He lived every day.” “At least he had a happy life,” Losano said. His twin sister, Maria Gomez, stood with her face in her hands in front of candles laid out in his memory, wishing he were still alive. “I can’t go on without you. “I just want you back so bad,” Maria said. That evening she said he was on his way to get her a soda. “My fiancé called me and said, 'You have to come now.' “Your brother was stabbed,” Maria said. That was the last time she saw him alive. “I got here and he was already on the floor and they were already doing CPR on him,” Maria said. She said everything happened in the blink of an eye. “Something like that happened in three minutes,” Gomez said. His fiancée cried and mourned with his sisters. “I miss him so much. He didn’t deserve this, he did it perfectly,” said Angela Madrigal. The family said as part of an Italian tradition they would light these candles every night this week in his memory. They are asking the community for prayers and donations to Enrique's sister @Thelma-Losano's Venmo for funeral expenses. Do you have photos or videos of an incident?
