Denton ISD employees are accused of attacking a boy in Hickory Creek, officials say

Hickory Creek police on Monday investigated an alleged weekend altercation between a Denton Independent School District employee and a 12-year-old boy, authorities confirmed.

Officers received a 911 call at 6:38 p.m. Saturday about a “possible disturbance” at a gas station in the 4300 block of FM 2181, Hickory Creek Police Chief Carey W. Dunn said in a statement. Hickory Creek is located approximately 25 miles northwest of downtown Dallas.

A video recorded by an alleged witness at the gas station sparked thousands of views on TikTok and YouTube.

At the gas station, emergency responders saw “several people” who reported that the adult male had attacked the vehicle Boy at a nearby Walmart. Officers tracked down the parties – one of whom had driven away from the gas station – and received “conflicting statements” about the incident, Dunn said.

Officers did not find sufficient probable cause to make an arrest at the gas station.

“There were no immediately visible signs of assault or injury or other evidence to suggest a criminal act,” Dunn said in the statement.

The statement does not name anyone involved in the incident. Dunn declined to identify the Denton ISD employee, citing the ongoing investigation.

A Denton ISD spokesman on Monday acknowledged “allegations that have surfaced online” and confirmed that the incident involved a district employee.

“As this alleged incident occurred in the community over the weekend, we must allow law enforcement to complete their investigation before any further action may be taken. The Denton ISD Human Resources Department is working diligently with law enforcement to address this situation,” the district’s statement said.

Dunn confirmed that Denton ISD's statement is related to Saturday's incident.
