Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition leak reveals launch and pre-order dates

There has been a lot of talk about the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition in the last few weeks. Despite using the Galaxy Z Fold 6 as a base, there will be some notable differences. The device is expected to rely on a thinner thickness to compete with the latest foldable smartphones. A new leak has revealed the alleged release date and pre-order period of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition.

The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, originally known as the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra, was leaked months ago. The project reportedly went through several decision changes over time, including possible cancellation. According to leaks, Samsung's original idea was to compete with the thin foldable devices like the Honor Magic V3. After this failed, the company would have decided to cancel the smartphone but would later resume the project.

The Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition will be released on October 18th; The period of the pre-order phase has been leaked

Now the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition unexpectedly appeared on Samsung India's website. This is interesting since leaks about the phone suggested that it would be available in limited markets like South Korea and China. Markets like India were not foreseen, but that may have changed. The fact that Samsung India's website is promoting the launch of the device opens the door for other countries that have not been able to get it as well.

Additionally, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition has reportedly appeared on the website of T Store, a Korean retailer, showing a launch on October 18th and pre-orders until October 24th. The company would begin deliveries on October 25. Interestingly, the poster includes a “6” in the name, although leaks suggest it will only be known as the “Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition.” However, you can also take it with a pinch of salt.

Some expected specifications according to leaks

According to the leaks, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition will have larger displays. The internal folding screen would grow to 8 inches, while the external screen would reach 6.5 inches. The company would significantly reduce the thickness of the device to 10.6mm when folded (12.1mm for the Galaxy Z Fold 6) and 4.9mm when unfolded (5.6mm for the Galaxy Z Fold 6).

Although Samsung has made efforts to reduce the thickness of the phone, it still lags behind other major brands. The latest Google Pixel 9 Fold Pro is slightly thinner (10.5mm when folded, 5.1mm when unfolded). The South Korean company cannot keep up with the Honor Magic V3, which has a thickness of 9.3 mm when unfolded. Anyway, Samsung would introduce a technology that enables S Pen support without a digitizer on the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition.
