The NPSO's “IMPACT” initiative targeted quality of life violations in Natchitoches Parish involving drug and gun violence

NATCHITOCHES, La. – According to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office, agents from the NPSO's Drug Enforcement Unit, Criminal Investigations Bureau and Patrol Bureau conducted an “IMPACT” operation in several communities in Natchitoches Parish on September 27.

This initiative, aimed at stopping quality of life violations, resulted in several arrests, including that of Darrin Pikeswho was arrested during a traffic stop.

The investigation uncovered illegal substances and a firearm, specifically:

  • 10 suspected fentanyl pills disguised as oxycodone
  • 12 suspected oxycodone tablets
  • 130 grams of suspected high-quality marijuana
  • A digital scale
  • An AR-15 rifle

During the operation, emergency services engaged over 50 people through traffic controls and on-site contacts. NPSO said this proactive approach aims to address the ongoing issues of drug and gun violence in the community. Additionally, 13 arrest warrants from the city marshal and NPSO were served.

The IMPACT (Increased Man Power Addressing Crime Trends) initiative is designed to focus, identify and combat drug and violent crime in Natchitoches Parish communities.
