Clovis Unified employee killed in fiery crash in Merced County

MERCED COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) — Charred grass and a cross marker where a fiery crash Friday afternoon on Highway 152 east of Arroya Avenue claimed two lives.

Los Banos CHP officials say a 64-year-old man was driving east in a Ford F150 for five to six miles in the westbound lanes before crashing.

“It initially hit another vehicle,” said Los Banos CHP Public Information Officer Shannon Stiers.

“A vehicle was thrown off its side near a freight highway and struck a 2016 Honda Pilot head-on several miles away.”

According to investigators, the truck burst into flames upon impact. Both drivers died at the scene of the accident.

It is not known whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.

According to the CHP, Highway 152 is a busy road that connects the Central Valley to the Bay Area and can be dangerous.

“Usually accidents happen in this area because there is a lot of cross traffic,” Stiers said.

“Traffic crosses the center median in both lanes, eastbound and westbound.”

The Merced County Coroner's Office has not identified the driver of the F150, but said 37-year-old Marcy Robison was the driver of the Honda.

She was a resource specialist at Bud Rank Elementary in Clovis.

The principal sent an email to the school that stated, among other things:

“Our entire team at Bud Rank is stunned and heartbroken, and we are pulling together to support her family, our children and each other in our grief.”

The statement said teachers would send an age-appropriate message to students that Robison was no longer attending school and that psychologists would be available for students and staff.
