Alma Police announce developments in Morgan Nick's kidnapping case

BREAKING FIRST: Alma police say there has been a “significant development” in the case of a girl who went missing nearly 30 years ago. 6-year-old “MORGAN NICK” was kidnapped in June 1995 while playing near an Alma stadium. There have been several breakthroughs in the case since her disappearance nearly three decades ago. 40/29'S LAKYRA BANKS IS LIVE IN THE NEWSROOM WITH WHAT WE'VE LEARNED OVER THE YEARS. The case is still active and ongoing. The most recent development took place in 2021 when police said they had found a suspect linked to Morgan's disappearance. NOW Alma Police are planning to hold a briefing tomorrow morning to report their latest findings. MORGAN NICK WAS LAST SEEN ON JUNE 9, 1995. SHE WAS AT A LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL GAME WITH HER FAMILY – WHEN SHE WENT MISSING. Despite an extensive search, law enforcement found no trace of her. OVER THE YEARS, POLICE HAVE PUBLISHED THIS PHOTO OF A RED PICKUP TRUCK SEEN NEAR THE FIELD AT NIGHT. In November 2021, investigators found a new lead. The FBI has named “BILLY JACK LINCKS” AS A PERSON OF INTEREST. According to police reports, a few months after Nick's disappearance, Links was arrested and accused of attempting to kidnap an 11-year-old girl in Van Buren. He was sentenced to six years in prison and died in 2000. Investigators located his red pickup truck and found blood on part of its seats. They also found hair samples. BUT LAB TECHNICIANS SAY THEY DON'T HAVE ENOUGH DNA INFORMATION TO MAKE A CONCLUSIVE MATCH WITH NICK. A 2023 HULU DOCUMENTARY revealed that law enforcement also found microscopic fibers that matched the type of T-shirt Nick was wearing when she went missing. 40/29 spoke to Nick's mother in February last year and said she is still fighting to find her daughter. “There's a very good chance Morgan won't come home to be part of our family. But the possibility exists because no one has ever proven that she won't come home, and that's why I chose not to fight for the probability, but to fight for it.” The possibility that Morgan has a daughter and a sister and my granddaughter is, and she deserves for us to give up at this point or move forward, and both are hard, but I choose my hard life That means continuing to fight for my daughter. AGAIN – THE ALMA POLICE WILL HOLD A NEWS CONFERENCE TOMORROW MORNING AT 10:30 TO REPORT A SIGNIFICANT DEVELOPMENT IN THIS CASE. WE BRING YOU THESE UPDATES BOTH ON-AIR AND ONLINE
