D Gukesh has made history

The 17-year-old grandmaster made history by winning the Candidates Chess Tournament and becoming the youngest-ever challenger for the world title. He will face China's Ding Liren, the reigning world champion, for the championship later this year.

As reported by PTIGukesh scored nine points out of a possible 14 after drawing his final game against American grandmaster Hikaru Nakamura. This victory made him the second Indian to secure a victory in the Candidates Chess Tournament. The first was Viswanathan Anand, who achieved this feat in 2014 on his way to becoming a five-time world champion.
