Govinda suffers gunshot wound at home after a licensed revolver misfires

Popular actor Govinda was rushed to hospital this morning after he sustained a bullet injury in his leg at his home, Mumbai Police said. The actor is out of danger and his manager said he is fine. The injury was caused by a misfire of his licensed revolver around 4:45 a.m.

The 60-year-old actor, also a Shiv Sena leader, was alone at his house in Juhu at the time of the incident. Police said he did not file a complaint. Govinda was taken to Criticare Hospital near his home and returned after treatment.

“We had to catch a 6am flight to a show in Kolkata and I had reached the airport. Govinda ji was leaving his residence to go to the airport when this accident happened,” said the actor’s manager.

“The revolver fell while it was being stored in the cupboard and did not fire. It is due to the grace of God that Govinda ji only sustained a leg injury and it was nothing serious,” he said.
