Adam Brody's Advice for a Happy Marriage: “Choose Someone Good”

Adam Brody visited Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush-Hager Today to promote his new Netflix series, Nobody wants thatand then finally talked about his marriage to Leighton Meester. These two former teen stars hardly ever speak publicly about their relationship. Finally one of them has done something exciting enough for us to get some details! Thank you, Kristen Bell!

We already know that Brody thinks highly of his wife, whom he affectionately describes as a “poet” and “outsider,” but what's the secret to their decades-long marriage?

“Oh, pick someone good,” Brody says. “Get lucky and fall in love with someone great and then just listen to them.” How…insightful? He further explained his theory:

“When you're with someone great, you're at third base. Not that it doesn't require sacrifice and humility and that you have to grow together and be willing to grow because you won't be able to stay where you are 100 percent. But when you’re with someone wonderful, I think I’m at third base.”

I don't know much (anything) about baseball, but I think he's saying that if you start with the foundation of being a good person, are you halfway home, so to speak? Or in this case, a base away from home? Sounds simple enough, but I doubt Adam Brody has ever had to sift through the dating app chaff. We normal people have to write articles about celebrities gushing about their wives and hope our friends read them so they know how to behave…ahem.
