Meet Adam Brody and Leighton Meester's two extremely private children

The OK Actor Adam Brody and his gossip Girl Actress Leighton Meester's wife is two of the most popular teen drama stars in the world, but to her two children, they are simply her parents.

Leighton and Adam, who married in 2014, keep their children out of the spotlight as their four-year-old son's name is unknown to the public. In addition to their son, Adam and Leighton are also parents to nine-year-old Arlo Day Brody.

The mystery couple welcomed their firstborn in August 2015 without commenting on Leighton's pregnancy or the birth of her baby.

They failed to keep Leighton's second pregnancy a secret as photos were taken of her with a belly in March 2020, revealing that they were expecting their second child.

Adam confirmed the birth of their second child, a baby boy, in October 2020 and explained that welcoming their son during the pandemic had some plus points.

“You have to feel like you’re in a cocoon. The world out there is scary but also exciting and hopeful right now,” he explained.

“Luckily for us, this family growing by one, in this time of our lives, in this moment in our lives, it definitely had its magical moments and it certainly had its advantages.”

Parenting styles

Although we know little about their family life, Adam spoke about their parenting style in September 2024 Today with Hoda and Jenna. When asked by the hosts whether he was a very strict “helicopter” father or the head of a “free range” household, Adam revealed: “Of course I feel like it's the perfect balance between all of that.”

“[We’re] very honest. We have some very truthful conversations, for better or worse. But other than that I wouldn't say it's overly strict.

“There is a helicopter to protect them,” he continued. “I'm not overly strict, but I literally see the sharp edges. And I want these heads to be preserved.”

On how he and Leighton manage to keep their children safe, Adam added: “I'm surprised – because my son is four – that none of us have gotten a black eye. I always thought, especially with him, one of those things. “We would have broken his nose.”

However, Adam shared that Arlo has an adventurous streak, noting, “[She] flirted with wanting to learn to ride a bike without training wheels and then backed out when it became real.”

Leighton Meester's approach to parenting

Leighton rarely talks about her children or explains it to them People in August 2023: “It’s all so intimate and private.”

“It's something I could never really put into words. It is such an emotional journey having children and it has certainly made me reflect on my own upbringing and childhood.”

She continued, “Since I have children, I want to give them everything we never had as adults, but also be honest and open about how grateful we should be for everything we have.”
