“No issues found” after magnitude 4.2 earthquake near Aromas, county says

According to the United States Geological Survey, a magnitude 4.4 earthquake struck near Aromas on Sunday morning. The quake struck about 1.8 miles north-northwest of Aromas in Monterey County. It was felt in the KSBW studio in Salinas, and callers to Freedom and Gilroy reported feeling it in the newsroom. No damage was reported. Monterey County Public Works and Facilities said “no issues have been identified” as of 4:06 p.m. Sunday. “Monterey County Public Works and Facilities personnel have standard operating procedures following an earthquake such as the 4.2 magnitude quake last night near Aromas. Public Works staff followed the department's standard operating procedures for post-earthquake inspection of bridges, and Facilities staff did the same for county buildings,” the county said in a statement.

“Monterey County Public Works and Facilities personnel are following standard operating procedures following an earthquake such as last night's magnitude 4.2 quake centered near Aromas.

“Public Works employees followed the department's standard operating procedures for post-earthquake inspection of bridges, and facilities employees did the same for county buildings,” the district said in a statement.
