As predicted, Update 31.30 has shed light on some of the new skins coming to Fortnite as part of the Fortnitemares update. As you can see in the image below, Fortnitemares will be adding a spooky Marshmello skin as well as a Leatherface skin from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and the doll from the SAW film series. Insiders like Shiina have also discovered new skins like Dark Ruby, Knightmare, Shadow Monks and Zain. It looks like the rumored mini-event is also coming soon, as well as a Mephisto bundle and a Nightmare Before Christmas crossover with Pumpkin King and Sally. More to follow.

Fortnite fans are looking forward to the release of Update 31.30 on PS5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch and Android. The third major content update of the current season will introduce new gameplay features, add new items and skins to the game files, and prepare for the upcoming Fortnitemares Halloween event later this month. The release date for Update 31.30 is October 1st, although the new content will only be available to play after an extended server downtime. According to Fortnite developer Epic Games, server maintenance is scheduled to begin at 9:00am BST UK time, although matchmaking will be disabled around 8:30am BST.

The news was announced by Epic Games on X, along with details on one of the new features that are part of version 31.30.

“Downtime for v31.30 begins at 4 a.m. ET, with matchmaking ending shortly before,” Epic explains.

“As of v31.30, Fortnite will enter sleep mode if a player is inactive for 15 minutes and notify your team that you have resigned

“In sleep mode, voice chat is paused and matchmaking is canceled. This timer can be adjusted in Game > Sleep and Power Saving.”

In addition to sleep mode, Epic is expected to add game files for the Fortnitemares Halloween event. However, it's worth noting that Fortnitemares isn't expected to release until after the next major update.

Elsewhere, Epic Games has announced plans to bring TMNT to Creative, while Fortnite insider Shiina claims that former NBA player Shaq will also be joining the game this week.

There is also speculation about a mini-event as well as rumors about more Marvel crossovers.

NEW FEATURES

• Sleep mode

– Fortnite enters sleep mode when a player is inactive for 15 minutes, telling your team that you have retreated

– In sleep mode, voice chat is paused and matchmaking is canceled.

– This timer can be adjusted under Game > Sleep and Power Saving.

GENERALLY

• Built-in emotes will not play in Creative/UEFN experiences.

– We are investigating an issue where built-in emotes, i.e. emotes tied only to specific outfits, are not playing in a Creative or UEFN experience.

BATTLE ROYALE

• Pickaxes may not cause damage when hit.

– After playing other game modes and then loading into Battle Royale, pickaxes may no longer be able to deal damage during a match.

• The “Lock input method as mouse” setting does not work properly

– The Lock Mouse Input setting may not work as intended

LEGO Fortnite

• Players can get stuck in a cannon if it is damaged or falls into the water while operating.

– Players can remain in “Cannon Control Mode” if they are damaged while loading into a cannon, or remain in a seated position if they are sitting on a cannon seat while it falls into the water.

• Barn quests may appear broken if you interact with a barn while a Klombo is following you.

– Players may see the entry “Following Unnamed Farmer” when attempting to assign Klombo to a barn.

• Additional heart slots may disappear upon elimination with Slurp Juice and Health Charms.

– If a player has 3 health spells equipped, is under the effects of Slurp Juice and is eliminated, the additional heart slots granted by the spells may be lost instead of remaining as gray hearts.

• The bottom of the HUD may disappear after using macro binoculars.

– After using macro binoculars, the lower part of the HUD may disappear.

FORTNITE MOBILE

• The screen may flicker on certain Android devices.

– Players may see pixelated or flickering glitch patterns when interacting with the screen. We will update this map once we have a confirmed solution.
