India defeats Bangladesh: The record-breaking hosts win by seven wickets to secure a 2-0 series win

India scored a remarkable seven-wicket win against Bangladesh on the final day of a rain-soaked second Test in Kanpur to secure a 2-0 series win.

The win was made possible by a record-breaking performance with the bat on day four and means they have won 18 consecutive home Test series, extending the record they already hold.

Jasprit Bumrah, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja took three wickets each as Bangladesh were bowled out for 146 before lunch on Tuesday and India needed 95 to win.

Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 51, his second half-century of the game, as India confidently missed their target and secured victory in a game lost to rain for two-and-a-half days.

They now lead Australia at the top of the World Test Championship by eight points.

India set the stage for victory on a record-breaking fourth day, becoming the fastest team to reach 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250 in Tests.

It is India's first Test series since appointing former opener Gautam Gambhir as head coach.

The two teams will now face each other in a three-match T20 series starting on Sunday in Gwalior.
