Another record falls for Phoenix, hotter temperatures are expected

PHOENIX (AZFamily)– An excessive heat warning remains in effect through Friday and could extend into the weekend. We'll keep an eye on this.

Monday's daily high was 108 degrees, surpassing the old record of 107 degrees set in 2003.

Monday to Friday are days with the first weather warning due to the extreme heat.

We expect high temperatures of 10 to 15 degrees above average.

The normal temperature for this time of year is 96 degrees.

A ridge of high pressure over the region is to blame for the above-average temperatures, and little to no rain is expected statewide throughout the week.

The monsoon officially ends on Monday. The total season total is 0.74″ for Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, making it the seventh driest monsoon on record.

As the month of October begins with temperatures hovering around 110 degrees, you should do your best to limit outdoor activities and ensure you stay hydrated.
