Viral Video Shows Amazon Semi Truck Allegedly Trying Donuts in 'Street Takeover'

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (WKRC) – In a viral video, an Amazon semi-truck driver was seen allegedly trying to eat donuts during a “road takeover.”

On September 21, a video was posted on Instagram showing a semi-truck in what appeared to be a road takeover. The incident reportedly occurred somewhere in Sacramento, California.

SFGate reported that the video, posted by multiple social media accounts, shows a large truck making a turn in the middle of a sideshow before running a red light. The video went viral on social media and was viewed millions of times.

Towards the end of the video, several people can be seen jumping onto the bed of the trailer before the semi drives away.

The Sacramento Bee reported the incident for the first time, with local authorities telling the publication that they could not confirm the exact location of the takeover.

“I am aware of this video, but I do not know if it happened in the county or the city,” Sacramento police told SFGate.

The incident came just weeks before California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a new law to crack down on street takeovers, which have become increasingly common in recent years.

According to SFGate, the driver shown in the video was hired to deliver Amazon products through a third-party company. In a statement to the outlet, Amazon spokesman Sam Stephenson said the driver has since been terminated.

“The actions depicted in this video are unsafe and completely unacceptable. The driver was terminated by his employer and is not authorized to deliver on our behalf in the future,” Stephenson told SFGate.
