Intel Core Ultra 9 285 leaks via Geekbench

The upcoming launch of the Intel Arrow Lake-S desktop will only include the unlocked K-series, a move consistent with the company's history. Still, non-K CPUs are also coming to market, and thanks to a recent entry found in the Geekbench 6 database, we've just gotten our first look at the performance of the top-tier non-K CPUs.

The Geekbench entry found by Benchleaks shows the first non-K SKU in the Arrow Lake-S family found in the wild. Mirroring the CPU configuration of the 285K, this 65W TDP processor has 24 cores, including eight Lion Cove P cores and 16 Skymont E cores. According to the Geekbench entry, the CPU was tested on an Asus Prime Z890-P with 16GB of DDR5-5600 memory.

Looking at the test results, the Core Ultra 9 285 reaches a maximum boost frequency of 5.6GHz, just 100MHz lower than its 285K counterpart. The single-core score of 3081 suggests that the CPU can keep up with 265K(F) in single-threaded programs. As for multi-core performance, the value of 14,150 seems a bit too low despite the performance limitations. Hopefully retail samples perform better on this test.

Intel's public launch of the new series is scheduled for October 10, but the non-K CPUs are not expected to be part of that announcement. Instead, Intel will likely unveil the new 65W TDP chips later, possibly around CES 2025. This window is in line with the arrival of Intel's B860 motherboards.
