One person has died in a multi-vehicle crash on US Highway 90 in Lake City

LAKE CITY, Fla. (WCJB) – A fatal accident Monday caused traffic backups along West US Highway 90 and surrounding areas.

Lake City police officers said they arrived at the crash site at 3628 W US Highway 90 near Northwest Centurion Court around 1:10 p.m. Monday.

Officials said a vehicle traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 90 struck another car, knocking it onto the pavement. The driver of the second vehicle only suffered minor injuries.

The first vehicle attempted to turn left onto Northwest Centurion Court and struck a third vehicle. The first vehicle continued down the road at a high rate of speed before colliding with a fourth parked, empty car. The driver of the first vehicle was killed.

Lake City Police are investigating what caused the driver to crash into multiple vehicles.

The incident caused significant traffic delays near West US Highway 90 and I-75 for several hours.
