Britney Spears burned off her hair and eyebrows in a fire test

Britney Spears says she accidentally burned the hair on her head and face during a heated incident.

Multiple media outlets are reporting that the 42-year-old “Stronger” singer spoke out about the fire on Instagram on Monday, although the post in question appears to have been deleted.

Spears said that in the spring she tried to light her fireplace – a job normally reserved for her security guards – and lost hair, eyelashes and eyebrows and suffered second- and third-degree burns.

The pop star was on her own as her “companion,” as TMZ put it in an apparent reference to beau Paul Richard Soliz, was asleep. Spears eventually put ice on her face, battled the pain for seven hours, and took several Tylenol tablets before bed.

Just weeks after Spears and his third husband Sam Asghari finalized their divorce, which he filed in the summer of 2023 after 14 months of marriage, sources told TMZ in May that Spears was facing “major danger.” They claimed that Spears was suffering from deteriorating mental health and drug problems.

This month marks the one-year anniversary of Spears' explosive memoir “The Woman in Me,” in which she details her contentious relationship with the media, the salacious elements of her early romance with Justin Timberlake, and the inner workings of her more than decade-long conservatorship.

It was announced back in August that the bestseller, directed by “Crazy Rich Asians” and “Wicked” filmmaker Jon Chu, would be coming to the big screen.

Spears said at the time that she was “excited to share with my fans that I'm working on a secret project with Marc Platt,” who will produce, according to Variety.
