63-year-old man is charged with sexually assaulting young boys in Lewis County

ROANOKE, W.Va (WDTV) – A 63-year-old Harrison County man was arrested after sexually assaulting two young boys in Lewis County, according to West Virginia State Police.

Steven Brown, of Mount Clare, would take two young boys to Stonewall Jackson Lake and sexually abuse them, court documents say.

The attacks began in 2018 when one of the boys was 12 years old and continued until May of this year, police said.

One of the victims said Brown owned firearms and told him that if he told anyone, “bad things would happen,” causing him to fear for his life, court documents said.

The victims disclosed the assaults during an interview with the Harrison County Child Advocacy Center on Friday, Sept. 27.

Brown is charged with five counts of first-degree sexual abuse, five counts of sexual abuse by a parent or guardian, one count of second-degree sexual assault, one count of distribution of obscene material to a minor and one count of use of obscene material to entice a minor.

Brown is currently in the North Central Regional Jail. Bail is $650,000 in Lewis County and $600,000 in Harrison County. He faces the same charges in Harrison County, according to the West Virginia Division of Corrections & Rehabilitation.
