Wild boars blamed for motorcycle accident

A motorcyclist said spears like the ones shown here caused his accident.

BONITA – An early morning motorcycle accident in which the driver was flown to a Tucson hospital for treatment was allegedly caused by a pack of javelinas crossing the road.

Authorities were alerted to the accident by the driver himself at around 4:54 a.m. on Sunday, September 23rd. The incident occurred in the area of ​​Fort Grant Road and West Liberty Road.

Upon arrival, an officer located the injured rider on his bicycle on the west side of the road. The driver complained of neck, back and elbow pain and said he couldn't move.

Lifeline Ambulance paramedics treated the driver at the scene and he was then flown from a nearby field to a Tucson hospital for further treatment.

While still at the scene of the accident, the driver said he was traveling south on Fort Grant Road at speeds of 55 to 65 miles per hour when a group of Javelins ran across the road in front of him. As the rider tried to avoid the animals, he lost control and fell.
