MLB Playoffs: Mets reveal Game One lineup

After announcing their roster a few hours ago, the Mets announced the starting lineup for game one of the Wild Card series against the Brewers.

  1. Francisco Lindor, SS
  2. Jose Iglesias, 2B
  3. Brandon Nimmo, LF
  4. Mark Vientos, 3B
  5. Pete Alonso, 1B
  6. Jesse Winker, DH
  7. Starling Marte, RF
  8. Tyrone Taylor, CF
  9. Francisco Alvarez, C

Luis Severino, SP

The most notable part of the lineup is the return of Jesse Winker to the lineup. Earlier today, reports of back pain led to talk of Brett Baty potentially taking Winker's spot on the roster. Winker has been in a slump for most of the last month, but not as bad as JD Martinez, who is in one of the worst stretches of his career despite a few hits in the last two days. With the Brewers announcing right-handed starters in the first two games, an effective winker would be a nice addition to the lineup.

Otherwise, the lineup is similar to what the Mets have introduced of late, with Tyrone Taylor still participating in the at-bats. Today's lineup is maximized in terms of offensive strength, with Starline Marte in the outfield in place of Harrison Bader.
