John Deere recalls compact tractors due to risk of accidents – Newstalk KZRG

John Deere has issued a recall for its 1023E, 1025R and 2025R compact tractors.

The reason for the recall is that a front idler arm in the brake linkage can fail, which can result in the tractor no longer braking, which can lead to an accident.

This recall affects the 1023E, 1025R and 2025R compact tractors that have the model number and “John Deere” printed on the hood. The recalled tractors are green and yellow and were sold with both the operator station open and closed.

The serial numbers of the tractors affected by this recall can be found at www.deere.com. Click Parts & Service and scroll to Recall or go to www.deere.com/en/parts-and-service/recall-information/. The serial number is located on the frame at the front right of the tractor, near the engine.

Around 147,900 tractors were sold in the USA

About 16,800 copies were sold in Canada.

Deere & Company at 800-537-8233 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. ET Monday through Friday and 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. ET Saturday or online at www.deere.com and click “Recalls” in the drop-down menu below. “Parts & Service” can be found at the top of the web page or click for more information.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled tractors and contact an authorized John Deere dealer to schedule an appointment to bring the tractor to the dealer for a free repair. If the consumer is unable to transport the tractor to a dealer's location, the dealer will arrange for the equipment to be repaired at the consumer's residence. John Deere contacts all known buyers directly.

The company has received four reports of brake linkage failure, including one hospitalization and two impact injuries, as well as minor property damage to the tractors.

Authorized John Deere dealers nationwide from November 2017 to July 2024 for between $12,700 and $21,000.
