AG: Drug ring dismantled in Saratoga County | News

ALBANY – A drug ring selling in Saratoga County and surrounding counties has been dismantled, New York Attorney General Letitia James announced Tuesday.

The raid included the arrests of 21 people, most from the Glens Falls and Troy areas, officials said.

The investigation included members of the New York State Police, Saratoga County Sheriff's Office, Warren County Sheriff's Office and Saratoga Springs Police Department under the direction of the Attorney General's Organized Crime Task Force, officials said.

It involved wiretapping and surveillance efforts and focused on a Troy woman identified as Heather Thompson, 38, officials said.

Officials said Thompson purchased kilograms of cocaine to distribute to her network of dealers in Saratoga, Warren and Washington counties.

Thompson did business primarily in Saratoga County, selling at a local pub and bowling alley, officials said.

The indictment was unsealed in Saratoga County Court and contains 222 counts, officials said. The charges relate to engaging in drug trafficking, including various counts of criminal sale and criminal possession of a controlled substance, and second-degree conspiracy.

“Drug trafficking destabilizes communities and puts New Yorkers everywhere at risk,” Attorney General James said in a statement. “These individuals had a broad network of buyers and dealers who transported deadly narcotics throughout our state and sold them in bulk. Thanks to the hard work and cooperation of our partners in this investigation, we were able to recover nearly half a million dollars worth of drugs. “I will continue to take down drug smuggling gangs that threaten the safety of New Yorkers.”
