Brest 4-0 RB Salzburg (Oct 1, 2024) Match analysis

Abdallah Sima scored twice in Brest's 4-0 win at RB Salzburg in the Champions League on Tuesday, giving them a perfect start to their first ever European campaign as they both won against Austrian sides.

Brest won 2-1 at home against Sturm Graz in their first Champions League game, and the French showed a skilful counterattack that paid off against Salzburg, who failed to find a breakthrough despite numerous chances to score.

Brest shot on goal once in the first half, but that was all they needed to take the lead. The guests fended off a Salzburg attack and Ludovic Ajorque's pass found Sima, who fended off his opponent and pushed his shot past the goalkeeper.

Salzburg wasted chances in the first half, with Amar Dedic and Karim Konaté both firing wide early on, and they were completely exposed by the visitors in the second half.

A long save from the goalkeeper in the 66th minute ended with Mahdi Camara doubling the lead with a superb shot after Salzburg failed to clear the ball, and four minutes later Sima pounced on a rebound to score his second.

The home side lost all fighting spirit when Brest scored their fourth goal 15 minutes from time when Mathias Pereira Lage struck from outside the penalty area, completing the defeat and reducing Salzburg to zero points after two games.
