MLB playoff results: Braves-Padres live updates; Wild card schedule, results if Mets, Royals, Tigers win

Major League Baseball's 2024 postseason is underway as all four best-of-three wild card series begin with Game 1 on Tuesday. The Tigers and Royals led the way with road wins as both AL Central teams battled for wins over the Astros and Orioles, respectively. The Mets have now opened the National League Postseason bracket with a win over the Brers in Milwaukee. The Padres and Braves will close out the first day of baseball in October in San Diego.

This is the third year of the 12-team MLB playoff format. The top two finishers in both leagues receive a bye into the divisional round, while everyone else must play in this best-of-three series, which is played exclusively by the superior seed. The 2024 playoff schedule The Wild Card Series ends Thursday and the League Division Series begins Saturday.
