LAS VEGAS, Nevada – LFA CEO Ed Soares announced today that the promotion will return to the Valley of the Sun in November with a bantamweight showdown at LFA 196. LFA 196: Tanner vs. Ureña, presented by Monster Energy, takes place on Friday, November 8th at the Arizona Financial Theater in Phoenix, Arizona. The main event will feature a bantamweight showdown Dana White's Contender series Alum Kasey Tanner faces top Dominican prospect Micaias Ureña. The entire main card will be available worldwide on UFC FIGHT PASS® at 10:00 p.m. ET / 7:00 p.m. PT.

Tickets for LFA 196: Tanner vs. Ureña can be purchased at LiveNation.com.

“We are excited to bring another action-packed fight card to Arizona at LFA 196,” said Soares. “That includes Kasey Tanner from Arizona, a Dana White's Contender series Graduate who trains alongside former UFC two-division champion and LFA star Henry Cejudo. He will return and seek his third win in the LFA Octagon. Tanner faces Dominican top prospect Micaias Ureña, who made a huge statement with a knockout in his LFA debut last summer Dana White's Contender series Alum Ashiek Ajim. This fight features two of the most exciting prospects in the bantamweight division and will cap an explosive night of fighting in downtown Phoenix.”

Tanner (7-1) is a lifelong martial artist who began training at age 6 with his father, Billy Tanner. His father has a black belt in Shotokan karate and continues to train him with the help of one of the greatest martial artists of all time. That would be the great LFA, Olympic wrestling gold medalist and former UFC two-division champion Henry Cejudo. Tanner now returns to action and is aiming for a perfect three-on-three victory in the LFA. Tanner's first LFA win earned him an invitation to compete Dana White's Contender series in a fight that saw the UFC boss stand and clap as the final horn sounded. White then made a rare appearance in the Octagon and shook hands with both Tanner and Jean Matsumoto before the official decision was announced, presenting both men with their “show” and their “winning” money. Then last summer, Tanner returned to LFA where he earned a quick submission victory at LFA 188. Now he wants to land his first LFA headliner.

Ureña (9-2) is a man who has quickly made an impression on LFA fans. The Dominican top contender scored the second fastest knockout in LFA bantamweight history with his brilliant 11-second knockout of the Trinidadian top contender and Dana White's Contender series Alum Ashiek Ajim. The fight, dubbed the “Battle of the Caribbean,” took place at LFA 189 in Western New York and ended abruptly when the dynamic Dominican landed his powerful right hand flush on his opponent's chin. The man known as “The Pink Ranger” saw his stock rise exponentially with the victory and is now on his way to Phoenix, the adopted home of the LFA's first Dominican champion and current UFC star Waldo “Salsa Boy” Cortes-Acosta. In fact, Cortes-Acosta won his first LFA fight in the same building where Ureña will look to recreate his magic from last summer as he will become only the second Dominican fighter in history to headline an LFA event .
