Father speaks out after wife is accused of “intentionally” running over his daughter in fatal hit-and-run

A father is speaking out after police charged a woman with murdering his daughter in a hit-and-run last week.

Ajee Williams, 30, is accused of striking 41-year-old Carla Mahan just moments after she got off a New Jersey Transit bus at 7th and Morgan streets in Camden.

Carla Mahan's father, Carlos Mahan, says it's hard to hear that the woman arrested and charged with his daughter's murder is accused of intentionally running her over.

Prosecutors described it as “deliberate…intentionally and knowingly.”

According to the affidavit, Williams drove up the curb onto the grassy lot in Camden just off Morgan Boulevard near 676 after she and Carla had a brief conversation through the passenger side window.

This conversation took place shortly after Carla got off a New Jersey Transit bus on her way home from work at 3:21 in the afternoon last Wednesday.

Police later found and examined the Dodge Durango driven by Williams, and court documents say human flesh and hair were found underneath the vehicle.

Prosecutors believe Williams likely had her two children in the car because they were seen on video picking her up from a Camden school in the Dodge Durango minutes earlier.

“How and why can you be a monster in front of your own children to do this,” Carlos Mahan said. “That’s what I want to know. Why and how do your children see this? This will traumatize them, even if it traumatizes us.”

“If she got the chance to get to know her, whether she knew her or not, even though she was so angry, I know if she could take that day back, I know she never would have, because if she had gotten to know her , maybe they would have done it.” “I handled it better instead of running over someone like a dog,” said Carla's father.

The family tells FOX 29 they plan to meet with prosecutors on Wednesday and then appear in court Thursday morning for defendant Williams' first appearance on a first-degree murder charge.

“To make sure she is brought to justice. That's why I stand up for my daughter. I wouldn’t miss it for any money in the world,” Mahan said.
