McDonald's Happy Meal Boo buckets return with a monster design for Halloween

McDonald's Boo Buckets are back!

At the start of October, the fast food chain announced that Halloween buckets would be returning on October 15th. Participating locations will stock up on fan-favorite Boo Buckets, which serve as a Happy Meal as well as a trick-or-treat bag.

The not-so-scary buckets have four new designs this year: monster faces in white, orange and green, as well as a new blue color. Fans can also personalize their buckets with Halloween stickers, according to a press release.

McDonald's warns that Boo Buckets will only be available while supplies last.

In October 2023, McDonald's reintroduced its Halloween buckets. The candy containers officially returned after being introduced in 1986 and brought back in 2016 and 2022.

This year, fans flooded the McDonald's post on X with enthusiastic messages.

β€œIt’s officially spooky season πŸ‘»,” one user commented. Another said: β€œI love Boo Buckets!! I literally use them for trick-or-treating!”

McDonald's

McDonald's is known for some popular characters – like Grimace and Ronald McDonald – as well as toys and collectibles. In August, the company launched the Collector's Meal on August 13. The limited-time meal combined classic McDonald's foods with one of six collectible cups, each decorated with nostalgic references.

The plastic cups are filled with images of popular characters including Barbie and Hot Wheels, Beanie Babies, Coca-Cola Polar Bears, Hello Kitty and Peanuts, McDonald's mascots and a combination of Shrek, Jurassic Park and Minions.

McDonald's also evokes nostalgia with its Happy Meal toys. In December, after 25 years off the market, the restaurant chain brought back McNugget Buddies.

The chicken nugget-shaped toys were first introduced in 1988 and came back in six different outfits and backstories. New York-based artist Kerwin Frost helped design the mascots and created a meal to pair with the revived toys.
