“Council’s support saved us,” Willie Resto, Killeen’s executive director of information technology, said in an update Tuesday. “These backups allowed us to restore without paying a ransom. My job is to protect the operating systems to ensure business operations continue without interruption.”

Resto says the city spent a total of about $37,000 in budget funds on a forensic audit and software repairs. A presentation on this topic was also provided and can be viewed on the city's website here.
