Residents report noise pollution after a temporary concert

According to Bentonville police, noise levels near 6th Street and 8th Street on Friday evening were between 65 and 70 decibels.

BENTONVILLE, Ark. – Several Bentonville residents said they were worried after a Friday night concert at Momentary could be heard for miles.

Popular DJ and producer Kaskade graced the Momentary stage in Bentonville on Friday night. While 2,000 people attended, some residents in the area said they could hear the concert from miles away.

One resident said he could hear the concert six miles outside and inside his home.

The City of Bentonville sent 5NEWS the following statement about the concert:

“We received several calls regarding noise complaints on Friday evening. We are working diligently with local venues to identify any misunderstandings or misunderstandings between the existing city ordinance regarding noise pollution and local musicians or performances.” Our Code Review Committee is actively reviewing the current ordinance and will present appropriate changes to the City Council for approval.”

According to Bentonville's noise ordinance, noise levels can be up to 70 decibels on weekends from 7 a.m. to midnight. According to Bentonville police, noise levels near 6th Street and 8th Street on Friday evening were between 65 and 70 decibels.

In response to this issue, The Momentary issued the following statement:

“We understand that the noise level of the concert caused an inconvenience to some in the neighborhood and surrounding area and we apologize for this. As we continue to provide meaningful cultural and entertainment experiences to our community, we will explore a variety of ways to mitigate disruptions.”
